Wine Accessories

Wine is one of the most popular beverages in the world and when it comes to buying wine accessories, there are plenty to choose from. Some are necessary and others are not. If you are going to throw a dinner party or simply make the most out of enjoying a glass of wine yourself, then you need to know what accessories you’ll need and which ones you won’t. Will you need a wine and cheese tote bag? Probably not, unless you are looking to go on a romantic picnic with a special someone. But you will need something to open the bottle!

One of the most important wine accessories is obviously the corkscrew. You can’t drink the wine unless you open the bottle! While there are wine bottles that don’t require a corkscrew and come with a twist-off cap, most people do understand that the best wines will have a cork. You will want to find a corkscrew that pulls the cork out in one smooth stroke without letting the cork fall back into the bottle. The most difficult corkscrew to use is the pronged, while the easiest to use is the lever. There are other options to choose from but just make sure you choose one that is easy to use.

When you think of wine accessories, glasses are also at the top of the list, unless you simply like to chug straight from the bottle. That might have been fine back in your college days, but unless you want to look like a knucklehead, then use a glass. There is a variety of glasses to choose from so it’s best to know what each glass is meant for. A narrow glass is used when drinking white wine whereas the oval glass is made for drinking red wines. It is best to have a combination of both. You may even want to go as far as having personalized glasses made with initials or your name etched on them. That can add a touch of class.

A wine bucket allows you to maintain wine’s optimal temperature. This is one of those wine accessories that show you really know how to serve wine. Some people simply let the bottle sit in the middle of the table. But a wine bucket adds a touch of class and really adds to the experience.

A decanter is another on the list of wine accessories that show you know how to make the most out of the experience. It’s primarily used as a serving vessel. It will also help remove sediment from wines and allows the wine to breathe. This has a similar effect as swirling wine in your wine glass. Decanters also add a nice touch to an elegant dinner.

If you’re looking to protect your furniture, invest in some classy coasters. They can be used for any beverage, not just wine, and adds another delightful touch to your list of wine accessories. You may want to find coasters that match your décor to show that you have some decorating sense.

Wine racks are very useful and if you have a nice collection, you may want to store wine in a proper fashion. There are a variety of sizes and materials used to make wine racks. You can buy small wine racks or wine racks you mount on the wall. They can be made from wood or metal or even wrought iron. It just depends on how much wine you have and in what room you will store it.

These are some of the wine accessories that most wine aficionados have. Whether you need all of them or not is totally up to you. You know what is in your budget and what kind of space you inhabit. But if you enjoy wine, no matter where you live, there are a few wine accessories that you simply can’t go without.
